Job Description: Principal Software Engineer
We are looking for an experienced and innovative Principal Software Engineer to join the Development team supporting Fortra’s cybersecurity platforms and products.
This role is responsible for enhancing and maintaining existing software products while also contributing to the development of new solutions. The ideal candidate should possess strong technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and a passion for solving complex engineering challenges in an Agile environment.
What You Will Do
You will:
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable software applications and platforms.
- Enhance existing products and contribute to new product development initiatives.
- Work extensively with React, JavaScript, TypeScript, SPA architecture, HTML, CSS/SCSS, AWS, and Kubernetes.
- Utilize AI-assisted development approaches to improve engineering productivity and innovation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional and remote teams across multiple geographies.
- Drive Agile/Scrum methodologies within active projects.
- Coordinate project activities and provide technical leadership to engineering teams.
- Work with Linux environments and CI/CD pipelines.
- Contribute to DevOps and deployment activities using tools like Jenkins, Git, and Jira.
- Mentor team members and share technical expertise across projects.
- Ensure high standards of code quality, performance, and scalability.
Requirements
You should have experience with:
- 15+ years of software engineering experience.
- Proven experience in a Senior Software Engineer or Principal Engineer capacity.
- AI-assisted software development practices.
- React, JavaScript, TypeScript, SPA development.
- HTML, CSS/SCSS.
- AWS and Kubernetes.
- Linux environments and CI/CD pipelines.
- Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
- Technical leadership and project coordination.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Collaboration across co-located and remote teams.
Additional Skills Preferred
- Experience with Jenkins, Git, and Jira.
- Strong problem-solving and leadership skills.
- Ability to adapt quickly and lead change within teams.
- Experience mentoring and guiding engineering teams.
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle practices.
